Oh no, what have I done?
I Have Accidentally Become a Podcasting Authority
I’d like to formally apologize to every LinkedIn ‘Podcast Growth Alchemist’ who spent $10k on SEO audits this year.
I received a notification and I freaked out a little. Our little show, Monetize This!, a chaotic exploration of guru culture and questionable life choices, is currently ranking #1 for ‘podcasting best practices’ on Apple Podcasts.
Somewhere, a guy in a fleece vest is crying into his analytics dashboard because he just got out-ranked by a show that recently included a disclaimer warning listeners to consult a physician if their virality lasts more than four hours.
I’m seriously panicking over here. What happens next?
Do I have to start drinking athletic greens on camera? I’m currently 90% lukewarm coffee and 10% pure confusion.
Do I start selling a Masterclass? “Module 1: How to find the ‘Formula’ in your Spam folder.”
Do I pivot to ‘Professionalism’? That’s not happening.
To the gurus: I didn’t mean to steal your throne. I don’t even know where the keys to the kingdom are.
And if you're looking for actual best practices, maybe scroll down a bit. Like, significantly. 😅
In the meantime, please don’t tell Apple. I’m not ready for this kind of responsibility.
